Before we left Canyon we saw a museum so we decided to go through it. It is called Panhandle-Plains historical museum. It is on the campus of West Texas A & M, it was a fantastic museum well worth the cost and time. Missed breakfast so we ate lunch at 11:30. We
left Canyon at 12:30 and Road West out of Canyon through some more farmland. Large acres of milo, corn and feed. We saw several large feedlots and one large Dairy. When we got to New Mexico return north off the freeway and go to miles and miles of large ranch land. Beautiful grassland and some large ranches. We crossed the Canadian River up north by Springer, New Mexico, Don thinks it starts up near the Colorado border. We took the north route through Cimeron, through the mountains to Taos. When we got to Taos about 730 we found every room in Taos was taken. We finally went to the super eight and the man at the desk called every motel he could find as far south as Santa Fe. Finally he said I have a room closed for maintenance but if you will give me a little bit I will clean it up and rent it to you. We were grateful for his kindness. I had forgot to mention that most of the town streets that we have come a crossed especially in the south, in the older part of town are brick, they are rough as a cob but I don't think you could ever wear them out. We came over 300 miles today the most we have came for several days, we should have stopped sooner and found a motel 😳 here are a few pictures.
