We spent Monday night in Thorton, Colorado With our good friends Fred and Marge Hoppe. Don and Fred became friends at CSU In 1958. We have such a good time When we are with them. Now we are on the road Headed home going through Salt Lake city.
It was like stepping back into time for me to see the home where I was raised.
We went by the ranch where I was raised as a kid South of Brandon. Terry and Janet own the ranch now. The tornado of 2012 Destroyed part of the house , so they have remodeled and built on. They graciously Showed us their home.
We went by to see Waylen and Darlene yesterday afternoon. We had a good visit with Them and Michelle their daughter and husband Randy, Josiah and Malachi came. The boys are 16 and 12. We left Kansas City, Missouri and drove to Junction city, Kansas and spent the night. Making a lot of memories as we go along on this trip.
What a fun time we are having making memories with both sides of our families. Last night we spent in Agusta, Kansas with my cousins Donna and Larry, Francie and Steve, DONNA and Francie are Zortman girls, they are first cousins to my mother. I cannot believe how much Donna looks like my mother.
We are at Barclay College in Haviland Kansas. It is a Friends college where Melynda our granddaughter, is in her second year. It is fun to see how she is growing up and maturing. We took her and Bethany to a Mexican place for dinner, I think they really enjoyed it. At 9:30 PM we are going to watch her play flag football, that is past my bedtime so I hope I can stay a wake. ;)
We have had a wonderful three days with our family in eastern Colorado. We took in the Kiowa County fair, Don got to do some work in the field bailing. We have had a lot of fun with a lot of family. Now, we are headed to Johnson, Kansas to see good family friends Darrell and Marylin.
Kay and I have had a really good time today while the guys went to Kansas to the sale. We went to La Junta and had lunch with Micah, who is Kay's Grandsons wife. We came back by the John Martin Reservoir Which is at Hasty, CO.
We are in eastern Colorado, having a really good time visiting family. Don and his brother Gilbert, went to the field last night to bail feed. Don is having a great time doing ranch and farm stuff. Today they are going to Kansas to the sale, where brother, Ronnie is selling cattle. My, we have a wonderful family. God is good.
My how time flies! We can't believe it has been one year since our last post.
It has been an eventful year and we are excited that after Don's two major surgeries this summer we are able to take a trip.
We are doing a similar loop as to what we did last year; Taking the car and not the bike. Don prefers the car on these kind of trips where we are doing the majority of freeway driving. So, I'm sad to report there will not be a bike trip this year. I am excited that we are able to travel so soon after Don's surgeries, though!
Tomorrow, we will head out after church and get as far as we can into Wyoming.
We are two, in-love, down-to-earth, people who fell in love over 55 years ago! We have covered many miles from the back of our Honda Golding; including our dream trip to Alaska! Our next big adventure will be East! Here is our journey. Don's the preacher and Alfreda is his biker babe!
