We had a good night in Susie's expedition, still light at midnight but with it being overcast we are not really seeing the daylight like we would if it was sunny. It is still over cast today so can't see the beautiful mountains, the natives are REALLY tired of this weather as this is all the summer they get.
We had a nice drive yesterday, after we left Susie's we went to Anchorage where we visited a family that was in Star when we went there in 1978, Robyn & Joy were best friends & her family moved to AK when Robyn was in the 7th grade. Her grandma is still living, will be 95 in Aug. nice to see & visit with her too. We hope to team up with her mother & brothers while we are here.
We visited Darrel & Elaine Kellum in Soldotna, we don't know them but Elmer & Louella sent greetings to them, nice people. We went on to Homer & had a really good dinner at Lands End on the end of the spit. It was a beautiful place, watched people fish & boats coming & going.
Today we are headed to Kenai, Seward, maybe Whitter, seeing all we can of this beaufiful state. We saw our first moose in AK this AM & Don is going to put on some pictures. A cow & 2 calves, really cute, they were running & playing with mother keeping a close eye on them.
we stayed at Anchor Point & ate breakfast at Clam Gulch, it was a one horse place with one person doing it all, she did an OK job.
Picture of young bull moose and 2 small calves.
Alfreda,
ReplyDeleteSory I wasn't here when you called. Had gone out to lunch with a friend. Needed to get back and do a little more "work" before Mark comes this evening.
Our weather is improving and they say we will be in the 70's by next week. Next thing we will be
doing is complaining of the heat, but I will try NOT to. No special plans for the 4th --Mark leaves early that morning for Houston, Moscow and Singapore--about 28 hours of flying. I know he makes good money, but I think he earns it.
Good luck and see you one of these days.
Doris
